
The second HBCU trip is underway. The first stop will be at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. Dr. William White and Mr. Toman along with 33 students and chaperones are excited to be a part of this amazing opportunity!

BUS INFO for Thursday, April 25th: Bus 674 is running 30 minutes late this morning. This affects Princeton Primary, Mercer, Straley, Princeton Middle and Princeton High.

Secretary of State Mac Warner presented Montcalm High Seniors with the Jennings Randolph Award. Hunter Lewis and Faith Hodge were named Honorary Secretaries of State. Montcalm is 1 of 30 high schools in West Virginia to earn this award! Congratulations!

BUS INFORMATION for Wednesday, April 24th: Bus 648 will not run this morning. This affects Athens, Pikeview Middle and Pikeview High. It WILL run this afternoon.

Construction and improvement updates! Athens School is continuing to have new windows installed. This week is mostly in the gym area. At Spanishburg, wiring of BARDs (HVAC units) and finishing some hallway ductwork is underway. At Bluefield High, the company installing the new HVAC has spent most nights finishing the control wiring. And at the new Timberwood Elementary, the main entrance was poured, topped the ICF walls in the gymnasium and cafeteria, and worked on the elevator pit.









BUS INFORMATION for Monday, April 22nd. These changes affect Bluefield Primary, Bluefield Intermediate, Bluefield Middle and Bluefield High.
Bus 673 is not running today; however,
Students that ride 673 and are transported from Princeton Avenue, Grant Street Bridge, and Wayne Street will ride bus 659 with Pam Scott.
Students that ride 673 and are transported from Bland street and Ridgemont in the MORNING will ride bus 663 with Eric Poe.
Students that ride 673 (BMS BHS) and are transported from Ridgemont will ride bus 629 with Doug cook this AFTERNOON.
Students on college Avenue will ride on bus 686 with Jeff Siers

BUS INFORMATION for Friday, April 19th. Bus 621 will not run today, however,
Bus 676 will be picking up elementary students at their usual stops, and bus
653 will be picking up the middle and high school students at their usual stops. The students will ride these alternate buses home this afternoon as well. This affects Princeton Primary, Mercer, Straley, Princeton Middle and Princeton High.

Two members of the WVDE visited Central Office today to talk about the Science of Reading. Brandi Keaton Dyslexia Specialist and Josie Groves Literacy Specialist met with Princeton Primary Principal Kelli Stanley, Oakvale Principal LaCosta Hodges, Special Education Supervisor Shannon Noble, Elementary Supervisors Amber Riffe and Pam Clark, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ernie Adkins. A special shoutout to Service Dog Ebony and Emotional Support Dog Oakley!


Attention High School Seniors: The Promise Scholarship deadline is extended to September 1, 2024. They have also increased the award from $5,200 to $5,500!

The West Virginia Farm Bureau's Mobile Lab visited Spanishburg School this week, April 8th -12th. The 46-foot Lab is a fully self-contained unit equipped with multiple research stations. A retired teacher guided student while they conducted hands-on experiments and activities designed to meet the WV Department of Education Next Generation content standards. Students learned about the importance of agriculture in everyday living. Each day during the week-long visit, the student attended a 30-minute or 60-minute learning session. The favorite lesson was "Glue from Milk" where the students made glue and compared it to commercial glue and making butter. Spanishburg School would like to thank Mercer County Commision, Mercer County Farm Bureau especially Ethal and Frank Nash, Shirley Miller Chairman of the Women's Committee, Eli Tersterman, President Paul Canterbury, Tammy Bowling, Josie Lester from Mercer County Farm Bureau, County Commissioners Bill Archer and Gene Buckner and retired teacher Melissia Lamb.
