Today marked a special milestone as Melissa Boothe completed her final end-of-year evaluation with Dr. Ernie Adkins before retirement.

While we will miss seeing her each day, we are excited for this next chapter and all the adventures that await her. Retirement may mark the end of a remarkable career, but it is also the beginning of new opportunities, new memories, and well-deserved time to enjoy the things she loves most.

Congratulations, Mrs. Boothe, and thank you for your years of service, leadership, and dedication to Mercer County Public Schools. We wish you nothing but happiness, health, and endless blessings in your retirement! ❤️🎉🍎 #ThankYouMrsBoothe

🏈 **Glenville State Football Camp at Hunnicutt Stadium** 🏈

Mercer County Public Schools Superintendent Ed Toman had the opportunity to reconnect with two respected leaders of the Glenville State University Football program, Head Coach Jake Casteel and Assistant Head Coach Brian Hill, during the Glenville State Football Camp at Hunnicutt Stadium on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The event was especially meaningful for Superintendent Toman, who was a teammate of Coach Hill during their days as members of the Glenville State Pioneer football program. Toman also shares a special connection with the Casteel family, having played alongside Coach Jake Casteel’s father, Jeff Casteel (former WVU defensive assistant), at Paden City High School.

The camp served as a great reminder of the lasting relationships, traditions, and values built through athletics while providing local student-athletes the opportunity to learn from outstanding coaches with deep West Virginia football roots.

Thank you to Glenville State Football for investing in our young athletes and helping inspire the next generation both on and off the field! 💙💛🏈

🌳🏆 Congratulations to Glenwood School 4th grader Ayathi Kanjerla for earning 1st Place in the State of West Virginia Arbor Day Poster Contest! 🏆🌳

On Friday, students in Mrs. Barton’s class welcomed Mr. Andy Sheetz from the West Virginia Division of Forestry, who presented Ayathi with her state championship award. Her winning poster will be displayed at the Division of Forestry headquarters in Charleston for the next year—an incredible honor!

Students also had the opportunity to help plant a tree on the Glenwood School campus while learning about the importance of trees, conservation, and proper planting techniques. It was a hands-on learning experience that students will remember for years to come.

A special thank you to Mr. Sheetz and the West Virginia Division of Forestry for inspiring our students and encouraging them to continue participating in the Arbor Day contest in the future. 🌱🍃

This afternoon, Mercer County Public Schools’ former student and teacher JASON Argonauts came together with our newest Argonauts to share stories, advice, and excitement about the upcoming expedition to Houston. Mr. Toman reflected on his long history with the JASON Learning program and the many lives it has impacted through the years. It was especially meaningful to see two former Argonauts, now in college, return to support and encourage the next generation as they begin their own journey. A big thank you to MCTEC's Prostart students for the delicious food. @jasonlearning
