The West Virginia Department of Education welcomes nine high school career technical education teams to the third annual Culineering Challenge. Based on Netflix's Baking Impossible, the Culineering Challenge pits teams against one another utilizing skills to perform difficult tasks. Each team consists of two engineering students, two culinary students, and a social media manager. This year, the theme is "Bake and Quake". Teams must construct an edible structure and put it to the test of being shaken for specific amounts of time over several rounds. Baking Impossible winner Sara Schonour and other former caster members will be present at the event to offer guidance, insights, and to judge the culinary and engineering efforts. The winning team will be named grand champion and receive a $5,000 CTE classroom grant. The second-place team will win a $3,000 CTE classroom grant and third place will win a $2,000 CTE classroom grant. Additionally, the grand champion team will win the champion cup and $200 for each team member courtesy of the West Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association Educational Foundation. The top three teams also receive a custom engraved cutting board for their classrooms. Good luck to the MCTEC Culineering Challenge Team, MCTEC Tremor Tamers, in this innovative competition.
