Today, members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Beta Lambda Omega Chapter of Bluefield, WV, met with Superintendent Edward Toman and Amanda Aliff, Coordinator of Pupil Services. It was an honor to connect with such a passionate group of individuals, dedicated to making a positive impact on our community's youth. A big shoutout to Mercer County Schools plumbers Cody Neal and Steve Clowers for their hard work fixing a main water line leak at Oakvale today on this rainy day! Our Maintenance Department keeps our facilities in tip-top shape!
Mercer County Schools had another great night of robotics! We have a total of 45 teams that have competed this week. We look forward to seeing their skills grow in our next round of competition in November.

Pre-K teachers and administrators joined Amber Riffe, Pre-K/Elementary Supervisor for part two of their Child Outcome Summaries training yesterday. Teachers participated in a strategy session that will connect to their next Pre-K professional learning community in Math.

Mercer County Principals received training from Dr. Ashley Vaughn on WV Balanced Scorecard Methodology and Reducing Chronic Absenteeism by Russell Lippencott.
PikeView Middle School administration has become aware of a potential threat to school safety. Investigation by school administrators and WV State Police identified the students involved and appropriate disciplinary action was taken immediately by the school. WV State Police are continuing to investigate the incident in coordination with the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
