Spanishburg Elementary

Good evening, Wildcats! In honor of Constitution Day tomorrow, September 17th, we would like all students and staff to wear red, white, and blue! Please send in the pepperoni and cheese rolls RSVP form tomorrow so we can get an accurate count of how many to make. You can pay in person on Friday; lunch is $5. Please pay in exact cash or by check only. Lunch tomorrow will be chicken nuggets in place of the fish nuggets that is listed on the menu. Lastly, we are planning to participate in the Pikeview High School Homecoming parade on October 7th. If students are interested in participating, we will meet at the football field at 5:00 pm. Please wear school colors, and if anyone can donate a bag of candy for us to throw, we would appreciate it. You can send the candy at any time; just please inform the teacher that it is for the parade. Thank you!

Attendance plays an important role in every child’s success. Arriving on time and attending school each day helps students stay on track academically, build strong relationships, and feel connected to their school community.

A student is considered chronically absent when they miss 10% or more of the school year for any reason, including both excused and unexcused absences. This can be as few as two days each month. We have completed only 18 instructional days, and many students have already missed one or more days.

We understand that illnesses, emergencies, and other valid circumstances may require a child to miss school. Our goal is to partner with families by providing support, guidance, and planning so every student can receive the education they deserve.

If your family is experiencing challenges that are affecting your child’s attendance, please reach out to us. We have resources available and are happy to work with you. Please review the information on when a child is too sick to come to school for additional guidance. Together, we can help every Wildcat attend, learn, and succeed!

Good evening, Wildcats!

Please take a moment to review these important announcements:

🍦 Ice Cream Tuesdays
Ice cream will be available every Tuesday for $1. If you would like to sponsor a student who may not have money for ice cream, please include the additional amount when sending your child’s money and notify your child’s teacher.

🛍️ Online School Store
The online school store shopping mall program begins tomorrow! Please check your child’s folder for more information.

🍕 Pepperoni and Cheese Roll Lunch
Pepperoni and cheese rolls will be served this Friday. Although Fridays are typically reserved for parents of fourth- and fifth-grade students, this popular lunch will be open to all parents this week!

Parents may purchase a pepperoni and cheese roll lunch for $5. If you plan to join us, please notify your child’s teacher so we can send home a preorder form. All orders must be placed in advance so our cafeteria staff knows how many meals to prepare. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept orders on Friday.

Thank you for your support! 💙💛

Good evening wildcats! We are very excited for our grandparents event "Snuggle up and Read" tomorrow. Grandparents, students, & staff are welcome to wear comfy pajamas for some extra fun. Cafeteria doors will open at 12:45, to give grandparents time to come in and get settled before students arrive to the gym. Reminder that every Friday is hat day for $1 as a PTO fundraiser. Thank you, have a great evening!

Congratulations to Mrs. Bailey's 5th grade and Mrs. Graham's first grade for being our very first weekly attendance winners and getting to hang out with our new school wildcat mascots! Each week classes in Pre-K- 2nd and 3-5 are competing for the best attendance to earn the chance for the mascots to hang out with them all week. You gotta be here to win! Can't wait to see who beats them next week or maybe they will keep the win! 🏆 #wildaboutlearning #attendancematters

Good evening, Wildcat families! We sent a letter home on Friday to remind you of a few policies and new changes. Please read this to familiarize yourself with the expectations. One important expectation is that students may not bring toys to school because they cause unnecessary distractions and problems. Second, student drop-off is from 7:00-7:25 at the cafeteria. The cafeteria doors close at 7:25, and you will need to bring your students to the main door; the tardy bell is at 7:30. Students have had time to adjust to the new school year; therefore, we will no longer allow parent access into the building at drop-off. You are welcome to walk them up the sidewalk, but it is easier for the student to transition without their parents, even though they may be upset in the moment. Another important reminder: we have many new employees this year, and we may ask for your identification until we learn your family. This is for the safety of your child. We apologize for any inconvenience, but that is the procedure we will follow. Lastly, we cannot change transportation over the phone; it has to be a written note sent in with your child or brought to the school by 1:00 pm. This is Mercer Co. policy, and we will adhere to this for the safety of your child. Thank you!

Good evening Wildcat families! Today grades 3-5 should have brought home a sign up form for the Triple Threat basketball league. These forms do not return to school, they are to be mailed or emailed to the address on the form. If anyone would be interested in coaching the girls team, if we have enough interest, please call Mrs. Rickman at the school. Also, we will be sending check off lists over the next week to students who may need to provide additional school required documents. If your child brings home a form and the items are highlighted, these are items that may not be a document from the school, but something you need to provide a copy of. For example, birth certificates and shot records have to be provided by parents. Information for the first PTO meeting is in the FB post so please check that out! Please call the school if you have any questions. Thank you and have a good evening!

Good evening, Wildcats! We apologize for the lengthy message, but we have some updates that we need to share. Our Pre-K students will be starting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26th. They will be dismissed at the same time as our K-5 students, so there will be some additional parent pick-up traffic. If you need to buckle your child or adjust a car/booster seat, please pull down to the basketball goals or park so that the pick-up line can keep moving safely. Do not pass in the pick-up line, as some students may be entering the vehicle on the left side. Even with the online enrollment portal, there are a few forms we need in person, so we will be sending home a photograph opt-out form tomorrow. This form only needs to be completed if you do not want us to take pictures of your students for social media or school use. We will also be sending home a PTO sign-up form for anyone who would like to join the PTO. Lastly, we want to welcome families into the school as much as possible, while keeping activities safe and organized. Therefore, we are going to establish a lunch schedule so that if you are able and would like to eat lunch with your child, each grade will have a designated day. Monday-Pre-K, Tuesday Kindergarten and 1st grade, Wednesday 2nd grade, Thursday 3rd grade, & Friday will be for 4th and 5th grade. Pre-K lunch is from 10:40 am to 11:10 a.m.; Kindergarten through 2nd grade is from 10:55 am to 11:25 and 3rd through 5th is 11:35 a.m. to 12:05. All visitors for lunch must be on the student's emergency card. Lunch visitation will begin on Monday, August 31st, so please understand that we will not permit visitors until then. We know this is a lot of information, so please reach out to your child's teacher or the school if you have any questions. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Good evening, Wildcat families!

Tomorrow is our first day of school, and we are so excited to welcome our Wildcats back! Please take a few minutes to review these important reminders to help our morning and afternoon routines run as safely and smoothly as possible.

Morning drop-off is from 7:00–7:25 a.m.
Students arriving during this time will enter through the cafeteria.
At 7:25 a.m., the cafeteria doors will close. After that time, families will need to use the main entrance and sign their child in through the office.
Our new main entrance is located at the double doors by the ramp on the playground side of the building.
The tardy bell rings at 7:30 a.m.

We have new staff members in our front office who are still getting to know all of our wonderful families. During the first few weeks of school, please be prepared to show identification when picking up your child early. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we learn names and faces while keeping student safety our highest priority.

One of our most important procedures this year involves changes to a student's regular transportation. Transportation changes will NOT be accepted by phone, ROOMS, text message, or any other communication platform.

If your child needs to go home a different way than usual, the school must receive a written note from the parent/guardian.

We understand this may be different from what families have been accustomed to in the past, but this procedure is extremely important for the safety and security of our students, and it will be followed consistently.

Dismissal is at 2:20, with our school buses lining up first and then car pick ups. There will be staff and signs to assist in this procedure. Another important reminder is that we will can not dismiss students after 1:50 for an early dismissal according to county policy.

Thank you for helping us start the year safely and smoothly. We appreciate your patience as everyone settles into new routines, and we can't wait to see our Wildcats tomorrow morning!

We look forward to having an amazing first day!

If you weren't able to make it, that's OK, we can't wait to see all Kindergarten through 5th grade students on Thursday, August 20th. All Pre-K students will begin on Wednesday, August 26th. Your Pre-K teacher will be reaching out soon to schedule a time to meet with you. Please call the school if you have any questions. Have a great evening!
