Ms. Redman's kindergarten class at Spanishburg learned about the U.S. Constitution and then wrote their own!

Mercer County Board of Education is holding a work session this morning. Topics being discussed: Third Grade Success Act, The Science of Reading, and the Mercer County Schools Writing Framework.

Mercer County students, parents and teachers and GEAR UP coordinators attended the SWVGU Advisory Council meeting today at Concord University.

Mercer County 2nd-5th grade teachers received professional development on their reading series, HMH. The 2nd and 3rd grade session was held at Mountain Valley Elementary led by Zina Hodge, and the 4th and 5th grade session was held at Glenwood and led by Tanya Bailey.








Mercer County's Teacher of the Year and Service Person of the year were celebrated at the Clay Center this evening. We are so proud of our Teacher of the Year, Angela Wilson, and Service Person of the Year, Mindy Hawkins!



BUS INFORMATION. Bus 618, that transports Pikeview area students to the alternative school, will not run this morning, Tuesday, September 12th. It will run this afternoon. This affects Pikeview Middle and Pikeview High.
CORRECTION: meet bus 604 at the RALEIGH County line.
Bus 9/11/23: Egeria road has a power line down. Children that ride bus 604 can meet it at the end of the road where the Raleigh County line is. Bus will leave from there at 6:32 a.m.
Mercer County Board President, Greg Prudich, and members Paul Hodges, Jim Bailey, and Mark Godfrey attended the WV Schoo Board Association's Fall Conference today.


Mr. Hodges's classes at PVMS worked in their Automation and Robotics class on building simple great mechanisms.

Mrs. Shrewsbury's Science class along with her student teacher, Ms. Ramsey at PVMS collaborated on STEM projects this week.
