Bus 640, which affects Lashmeet Matoaka, Pikeview Middle and Pikeview High will not run today, HOWEVER, children that live on Bicknal Flats and lower part of Reese Harmon Ridge will ride bus 636. Children that live on the upper part of Reese Harmon Ridge will ride bus 656. Buses 636 and 656 may run 10-15 minutes behind due to the additional stops.

Principal Emily Smith presents on Mathematical Mindsets and Building Thinking Classrooms to K-2 teachers tonight. Mercer County is focused on the Mathematical Habits of Mind (MHM). These habits are an integral part of the College-and Career-Readiness Standards for Mathematics.

Due to heating issues at Straley School there will be no school for students tomorrow February 29, 2024. Staff will report 2 hours late.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2023-2024 Albert Yanni Scholarship which provides high-quality career technical education students an opportunity to pursue advanced education and/or training related to their career aspirations. Scholarships of $2000 each will be awarded to students selected by a committee of West Virginia Department of Education personnel. Applicants selected must present proof that they have maintained their eligibility requirements before awards are presented. The West Virginia Universal Pre-K Program Review was conducted in Mercer County on December 6, 2023. We are proud to say the review was a success. Mercer County Schools' Pre-K program including Pre-K collaboratives required no follow-up documentation or clarification. Way to go!
