Mathematical Mindset training this evening for grades 3-5 teachers facilitated by Kim Yahya (Athens), Katie Yahya Carter (Oakvale), and Emily Smith (Bluefield Primary). Board member, Paul Hodges, learned some new math strategies, too!




Thank you to the United Way for donating shoes to our schools! Their initiative is to provide children in Fayette, Raleigh, Nicholas, Wyoming, McDowell, Mercer and Summers Counties who are in need of shoes with new, athletic style shoes. Melrose School had the sweetest visitor today. Ms. Phyllis Akers, former teacher at Melrose stopped by the school. She taught at Melrose from 1973-2003. She brought some delicious baked goodies for the staff. She toured the school and shared some wonderful stories. They cannot wait for her to return for a visit.

Mercer County Schools' Director of Special Education - Lynn Bayle, Assistant Director of Special Education - Emily Huddle, and Shannon Noble - Special Education Supervisor are attending the WV CASE - Council of Administrators of Special Education at Stonewall Jackson Resort.

Today, members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Beta Lambda Omega Chapter of Bluefield, WV, met with Superintendent Edward Toman and Amanda Aliff, Coordinator of Pupil Services. It was an honor to connect with such a passionate group of individuals, dedicated to making a positive impact on our community's youth.
