
The Mercer County Academic Bowl matches for the 2023-2024 school year have come to an end. The teams from Bluefield High, PikeView High and Princeton High have demonstrated their immense knowledge in all topics. A big congratulations to the Champions for this year - the Bluefield High School Team - who will retain possession of the Academic Bowl trophy. Thank you to Coaches Taylor Bulson (BHS), Teresa Barton (PVHS) and Jennifer McClanahan (PSHS) for preparing these students for the competition.




Our Mercer County Robotics League teams competed this week in the league division championships. Mercer Elementary Team D and Montcalm Middle Team B won the division 1 Championship and Straley Elementary Team C took the division 2 championship. All four teams earned a qualification for the WV State Championship in March. Our teams will be in competition again January 27th as Mercer County hosts the second annual Mercer County Open Qualifier at Princeton Senior High. They county championship will be held February 17th. We are excited to see our teams compete and work to qualify for the state competition!

COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS AND FAMILIES: The FAFSA Workshop for senior students and parents will be held this Thursday, January 11th at 6:00 p.m. at the MCTEC Seminar Center.
Students and parents who are attending need to go online and create an ID www.studentaid.gov
To create an FSA ID, you need to follow these steps
1. Go to www.studentaid.gov and click on "Create an Account".
2. Enter your name, date of birth and social security number. Make sure this
information matches your social security card.
3. Create a username, and password and enter your email.
4. Enter your home address and mobile phone.
5. Select 4 challenge questions from the drop-down menus.
6. Review the information you've entered.

Due to a power outage, Bluefield Intermediate will be closed for students today, Tuesday, January 9th. Staff report 2 hours late.

The Mercer County BOE recognized students chosen for WV All-State Band: Daniel Creer, Weston Sanders, and Nathan Dinger (all from PSHS).



Mercer County BOE recognized WV AAA All-State 1st Team Dom Collins (Captain), Eli Campbell, and Chance Barker (all from PSHS) and WV AA All-State 1st Team R.J. Hairston (BHS).




The Mercer County BOE recognized Bluefield High School football coach, Fred Simon, for achieving 300 wins in his career. Congratulations!


The Mercer County BOE recognized Jennifer Persinger, Leigh Ann Owens, and Julie Duncan for achieving National Board Certification and Tara Dillon and Kristy Cecil for renewing their National Board Certification. Congratulations!





Last night, the Mercer County Board of Education recognized custodian, James Davis from BMS as part of the 110% Club, for going above and beyond.


Bus 623 cannot run Mt Horeb/ Clover Dew Dairy. This affects Princeton Primary, Mercer, Princeton Middle, and Princeton High.

Bus 679 will not run Red Oak Ridge. The bus will pick up those students at route 20 or the Littlesburg side. This affects Brushfork, Bluefield Middle and Bluefield High

Spanishburg School will be closed for students, tomorrow, Monday, January 8, 2024 due to heating issues. Staff will report 2 hours late.
