A group of JASON Learning National Conference attendees presented to the Board Member about what was brought back and how we will implement with students. Some of the topics were, Recycling, AI, micro-credentials, design thinking, Playwatch Kids, etc.
Bluefield Primary Principal Amy Rickman, Bluefield Intermediate Principal Angela Damon, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ernie Adkins, BIS teacher Chris Meadows, and some Central Office staff attended the ribbon cutting of the newly renovated Ridge Runner Fun Zone (Formerly Yakkity Yak Park). The playground is state-of-the-art with brand new equipment!. Pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it!

Assistant Superintendent- Elementary Education- Dr. Adkins met with elementary principals today! Melissa Clemons , coordinator of safety and security, helped share important information! Everyone is ready and excited for this school year!
Assistant Superintendent- Secondary Education- Mrs. Mitchell met with all middle and high school principals and assistant principals along with Secondary Supervisor Angie Groseclose today. They are gearing up and excited for the upcoming school year!
Mr. Ted Gillespie stopped by today to visit with Superintendent Ed Toman. Those of us from Mercer County remember Mr. Gillespie as a one-of-a-kind teacher, principal, and Board of Education member. Mr. Toman and Mr. Gillespie have known each other since 1997, where they took the Principals' Academy together.
Football practice has begun all around the county! Thanks to the excess levy, our players are protected by Guardian Protector helmet protectors. Studies show that these protectors provide significant reduction in the impact force from tackles and reduces the risk of concussion.

Parents/Guardians and Students who have already submitted an application and been approved for Virtual Education for the upcoming school year will be scheduled for orientations on August 19, 20, and 21. Dr. Vaughn and Ms. Farmer will be calling you the week of August 12-16 to schedule the time and date.
This meeting is for Parents/Guardians and Students who have not submitted an application, are homeschooled, or simply need more information about the program are welcome to attend!
