LMS families, Mrs. Fox, our music teacher, is excited to offer a FREE Ukulele Club after school on Tuesdays from 2:30–3:30 PM!

This club is open to students, parents, and community members—and no experience is necessary! Mrs. Fox has everything you need to learn and play.

We would love for you to join us as students and adults learn together, build confidence, and enjoy making music as a community.

Third grade students studied the lifestyles of Native Americans in seven regions across North America. They worked together to create posters displaying their research.

LMS parents of second grade students, starting the week of September 28, Ms. Young will be implementing new reading instruction in her classroom. She will be sending information home tomorrow. The LMS fall festival is scheduled for Thursday, October 8 from 5:00-7:00. We hope you can join us for food, games, haunted hallway, learning, and fun! More information will be sent home soon!

LMS families, tomorrow is the first day of after school Bible Club. Your child must have returned their form in order to stay. Bible club ends at 3:30. Also, our students in grades 3-5 are taking a practice WV General Summative Assessment benchmark September 22-24. Have a great evening!

Mr. Jones's classes are learning about weather and made rain clouds in a jar. This experiment is a representation of how clouds get heavy with liquid, gravity pulls the water down, making it “rain” like a real cloud does in the atmosphere. 🌧️

🏪 School Store Fundraiser
Today, we kicked off our School Store program to help raise money for our school! A lanyard with information explaining how the program works was sent home with your student.

Your student will earn a participation prize when they return their completed lanyard to school. They can also earn additional great prizes when family and friends help support our school!

We are so excited to celebrate our amazing grandparents with a snack and a special moment together with their grandchildren!

Grandparents should come during the designated time based on the last name of their grandchild:

A–F: 12:30–12:50 PM
G–P: 1:00–1:20 PM
Q–Z: 1:30–1:50 PM

Please do not park in the school loop. There are a couple of visitor parking spaces available at the front of the school, and there is plenty of parking available in the main parking lot.

⚡ Energy Drink Reminder
Please remember that Mercer County Schools does not allow energy drinks in our schools for students, staff, or visitors. This includes bringing energy drinks into the school building or consuming them while at school. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in following this policy and helping us maintain a safe and healthy school environment.

This is a friendly reminder of the Mercer County Schools dress code policy. Please review the following guidelines with your student:

Skirts, dresses, and shorts must be long enough for the student’s fingertips to reach the hemline when their arm is extended naturally at their side.

Hats, head coverings, sunglasses, and bandannas are not permitted to be worn inside the school, except on designated special days.

Blouses or shirts that expose the midsection or have a low neckline are not permitted.

Spaghetti-strap blouses or dresses are not permitted unless the straps are at least three fingers wide or the garment is covered by a sweater, cardigan, or similar covering.

Unfortunately, our popcorn machine is no longer working, so we will be ordering a new one. Tomorrow, **August 26, is the FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL!** We are so excited to welcome our littlest learners! ❤️

🍎 **Morning Drop-Off**
Parents may **walk their preschool child to the classroom on the first day only.** If you are bringing your child to school tomorrow, please park in the parking lot and bring them inside **between 7:15–7:30 a.m.**

🚗 **Afternoon Pick-Up**
If your child is **not riding the bus**, parent pick-up will begin after the buses leave, at approximately **2:25 p.m.**

When you enter the parking lot, simply **line up behind the other vehicles** and follow the line through to the loop. We will bring your child out to your vehicle.

If you need additional time to buckle your child into a **car seat, booster seat, or seat belt**, please pull out of the loop and into the large parking lot to get them safely buckled. This will help keep our pick-up line moving smoothly.

⚠️ **Important Safety Reminder:** Please **DO NOT PASS** another vehicle in the drop-off/pick-up line. Some children may be entering or exiting vehicles from the **left side**, so it is very important that everyone remains in line.

LMS Parents, A road crew is currently working on Route 10 to clean out the ditch line, which may cause traffic to back up at times. Please allow extra time when arriving at school to pick up your child. Additionally, buses may arrive a few minutes later than normal for afternoon drop-off. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support!

Good evening LMS families! We have had a great start to our school year! We now have visitor parking at the front of the school. Signs will be posted soon. Back to school picture money can still be sent in until FridayAugust 28th and then pictures will be sent home the following week. Just a quick reminder about the importance of attendance. Every day matters, and every minute matters. When students are at school all day, every day, they are learning, building relationships, and developing routines that help them be successful. Even missing a little time here and there can add up quickly. We want every child at LMS to have the very best opportunity to learn and grow, and that starts with being in school, on time, all day, every day. Thank you for helping us make attendance a priority!

LMS families. We hope to see you on Wednesday. August 19, from 3:00-5:00 at our meet the teacher and Title I informational meeting. There will be a fifth grade parent meeting at 2:30. Don't forget to sign up for first day of school pictures. For $6 you will receive a 4x6 photo in a cardstock frame. First day of school for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade is Thursday, August 20. Preschool students start on August 26.
