Congratulations to 2nd grader Charlotte Meadows, who won the 2026 countywide Bluefield State University Black History Month Contest in the essay category. We are incredibly proud of her outstanding accomplishment!
Way to go to 1st grader Ryan Blankenship, who earned 1st place among all Mercer county 1st graders in the Young Writer’s Competition!
Another big congratulations to Chandler Cline, who placed 2nd among all Mercer county 2nd graders in the Young Writer’s Competition!

We are so blessed to have talented and knowledgeable teachers at BPS! Recently, 1st grade teacher, Leah Yost, presented a training on Math Literacy-making math engaging, standards based instruction, and the importance of math fluency and critical thinking.
Sam Black, Pre-K teacher, presented trainings on the National Level representing our school and community. She presented material on student engagement, family involvement and strategies for individual student success!

Good evening! Due to the snow days, we have had to reschedule and readjust some things. We will have a parent involvement meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11th at 5:30 in the media center. Our fun Friday fundraiser days have adjusted to reflect the 100th day of school. Thank you!

We have an exciting month planned for February! We are doing a Friday Fundraiser where students and staff can pay a dollar to participate in a dress-up theme. We will be looking forward to seeing everyone's creativity!

The following are reminders as we start the new year: Drop off times are 7:00 to 7:30. After 7:30 please escort your student into the building to be signed in. Dismissal begins at 2:20 and all students need to be picked up as soon as possible. If you are running late, let us know so supervision of students can be arranged. Yesterday we recognized the almost 100 students who had perfect attendance for the 1st 9 weeks of school. We also had 4 staff members without any absences! We know how hard this is to achieve and wanted to celebrate and show our appreciation to everyone! Congratulations 🎈
