Hello, Little Beaver Families! This is a reminder that we have Trunk or Treat this Friday afternoon. If the weather does not cooperate with the event being held outdoors, we will move the festivities inside. If you're not able to attend but would like to contribute, we are still taking candy donations. Thank you to everyone that makes these events possible for our Little Beavers! Also, we've enjoyed seeing our students participate in Red Ribbon Week dress up days! Tomorrow is PJ Day because we want students to dream big and not let drugs interfere with their future, Thursday is Team Up Against Drugs where students are encouraged to wear gear to represent their favorite sports team, and on Friday, students will be able to wear their costumes. Please keep in mind that there cannot be full face coverings, imitation weapons, and that costumes must be school appropriate. Have a great evening!

Hello, Little Beaver Families! Red Ribbon Week starts tomorrow, 10/27. We encourage everyone to wear RED to kick off the week.

Hello, Little Beaver Families! A permission slip for our school wide field trip to the Granada was sent home with students today. Students must have an 80 or above and no out of school suspensions in order to participate. We have a dance this Thursday, 10/23/25, from 5 to 6:30pm. Admission is $5 and concessions will be sold separately. Students must an 80 or higher in conduct and no out of school suspensions to be able to attend. We also wanted to let everyone know that the first quarter grading period ends this week and report cards will be sent home next week. Also, just a reminder that our tardy bell rings at 7:30 and students need to be in their classroom at the time the bell rings. We also do not allow head coverings of any kind, so please remind your child that hoodies, hats, bonnets, and any other head gear is in violation of our school rules. We greatly appreciate your help! Hello, Little Beaver Families! There are several reminders we wanted to bring to your attention. There are sporting events coming up both at the secondary level and through the Triple Threat organization. Students younger than 8th grade must be accompanied by an adult at all times at all sporting events. We have our Fall Family Engagement Evening tomorrow, Thursday, October 16th from 4:30-6:00pm. We hope you'll all be able to join us! There's a program planned to honor Grandparents and Veterans this Friday morning. The program for guests of 3rd graders will be 8:30-9:00am, 4th grade will be 9:15-9:45am, and 5th grade will be 10:00-10:30am. We're excited to welcome everyone for that event!

BIS Families- Reminder that students do not have school on Monday, 10/13. Mercer County Schools has a scheduled Faculty Senate Day.

Hello, Little Beaver Families! This is a reminder that tomorrow, 9/25, is Picture Day at BIS.

Hello, Little Beaver Families! There will be a 4H Club meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, September 16th, after school. Officers will be elected at this meeting. All campaign materials and speeches must be ready prior to the meeting. Pickup is at 4:30. We had great participation in today's pajama day and we're looking forward to seeing what tomorrow holds for character day! No masks or face painting, please. On Thursday, 9/18, our 4H Club, Run Club, and Beavers on Broadway will participate in Bluefield High School's Homecoming Parade. The sponsors of these after school activities have sent home information for their participants. We hope to see lots of students attending the parade as we march through, representing our school in this event! Thank you for everything you do to encourage your child's success at school! Don't forget about the MCS Express Food Truck this week! Today they're in Bluefield at the Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church. Tomorrow at the First Christian Church across from Straley School, Wednesday at Matoaka Summer Day Camp at the Matoaka Fire Department, and Thursday at the Montcalm Volunteer Fire Department. Each day is from 11:00-12:30. Bring your kids for food and fun!

Hello, Little Beaver Families! Tomorrow, 6/5, is our annual outdoor Fun Day! Please remember to send your child in clothing that can get wet as well as a towel, chance of clothing, and dry shoes. One station will include tie dye so it's best for the kids to not wear new clothes.

Hello, Little Beaver Families! We had a great first day of school-wide state testing today! Thank you to everyone that sent in letters of encouragement, donated snacks, and were sure to have their child at school on time! We have two more days of testing and we ask that all students be in their classrooms by the time the tardy bell rings at 7:35 so that there are no disturbances created by late arrivals. Tomorrow, we will be visited by BHS's graduating seniors. We encourage everyone to wear maroon/school spirit clothing in support of our guests. The t-shirts and sweatshirts that were purchased through our fundraiser a few weeks ago were sent home with students today, along with a copy of the order form that was submitted. Thank you to everyone that supported our fundraiser! We hope you enjoy your new school spirit items!

Hello, Little Beaver Families! This coming week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our PTO has planned treats for us throughout the week but we'd also like to ask your help in making the week special. If you have blank notecards, lined paper, or construction paper, please encourage your child to write a note or draw a picture for a teacher that's positively impacted his/her life. This may not necessarily be the homeroom teacher; it could be someone your child interacts with during morning/lunch/afternoon duties, someone they've learned from during our Walk to Intervention groups, or just someone that offers a smile each time they see your child. Thanks in advance for your help celebrating our amazing teachers this week!
