Mr. Devin Cordle, an employee in MCS's Warehouse, was recognized at last night's board meeting for being part of the 110% Club. Mr. Cordle assisted in moving food on a Saturday during Hurricane Helene from schools with no power to schools with power. When power was restored, he assisted in moving the food back. Because of him, students of Mercer County were able to receive a hot meal once they returned to school.
At the October 14th Board Meeting, PVHS's teacher, Mrs. Srene Lokay was recognized for being part of the 110% Club. She is a well respected and loved member of their staff who goes above and beyond for students every single day.

The Elementary Parent/Family Advisory Council Meeting took place at the Seminar Center this morning. Families received an overview of Federal Programs, the Third Grade Success Act, the Parent and Family Engagement Policy, and the Strategic Plan. Those in attendance provided Mercer County Schools with valuable input in enhancing parent/family engagement, the strategic plan, and programs. #ittakesavillage
All third graders in Mercer County received a dictionary today compliments of Concord University (Dr. Kendra Boggess), New River Community and Technical College (Mr. Russ Jordan), and the Bluefield and Princeton Rotary Clubs (Ms. Deb Halsey-Hunter). This year, Athens School hosted the event and 3rd grade students Kylee Pennington and Aidan Curry accepted the dictionaries on behalf of all 3rd grade students. We had a great day with the alternative Ed kids today at the Compass Virtual Learning Academy in- person day. Tracey O’Donnell and Rob Tibbs from Montcalm High School delivered the suicide prevention program Recognize, Respond, Reach to the students. Then, they did a lesson on the importance of voting and helped the students register to vote. Last Stephanie Hill and Jessica Whitt from Child Protect gave a lesson on bullying, cyber bullying, and digital safety. Then the students had a fun game of Halloween Jeopardy.
