Montcalm High School will dismiss at 10:30 am this morning due to a power outage. Buses will pick up students at 10:30. Those who do not ride a school bus will wait in the cafeteria for parents to pick them up.

Telephone systems at Montcalm High School, Montcalm Elementary, Bluewell, Lashmeet Matoaka, and Silver Springs are currently down. We do not have an estimated time when it will be restored.

Bluewell Elementary is experiencing a power outage. Students who have already been dropped off by a school bus or parent are being supervised in a central location until parents can get there to pick them up.

Bus info for February 13th:
Bus 650: power lines and pole are down on Coaldale Mountain. The driver can meet students at the Pop Shop at 7:00 am. This affects Montcalm Elementary and Montcalm High

Athens Elementary School will be closed to students today, Tuesday, February 13th due to a power outage. Staff will report 2 hours late.

Mercer County Schools has used 4 built in snow days.

At approximately 5:30PM Mercer County Schools’ Administration received notification of a potential threat involving a student allegedly having a weapon on a bus this afternoon. An investigation immediately began and the student has been identified with the cooperation of School Administration, Mercer County Schools Safety Coordinator Sergeant Clemons and the West Virginia State Police. The West Virginia State Police have confirmed the threat to be unsubstantiated.
Mercer County Schools will operate on a regular schedule tomorrow. Out of an abundance of caution, you may notice an increased police presence at our Bluefield High School campus.
