Through a partnership with the Mountaineer Food Bank and DoorDash, we deliver fresh produce, meat, dairy, and shelf-stable items right to families’ doorsteps.
Adequate nutrition is vital for success in and out of the classroom, and we’re proud to break barriers to learning through this program!

We’re making great progress and are on track to open Timberwood Elementary in Fall 2025! Here’s what’s happening:
✨ Water softeners are installed.
✨ Wiring to the transformer pad is complete (and the transformer arrives this week!).
✨ Lockers in Area C are being installed.
✨ Half of the rock wall in the entrance is finished.
✨ Marker boards are being installed in classrooms.
✨ The office area is coming together beautifully.

After completing in-depth research papers, students are now bringing their learning to life by constructing detailed models of their animal’s ecosystem/habitat.

Bus 674 is running 20 minutes behind this morning, January 24th. This affects Princeton Primary, Mercer, Straley, Princeton Middle and Princeton High.

Afternoon bus info for Thursday, January 23rd: this affects Bluewell, Montcalm Elementary and Montcalm High.
Buses may be delayed this evening getting children home from school as there is a wreck that has taken up the road on Lorton Lick.
Buses are preparing to make diversion routes but will make them later than usual.

Bus information: Buses 679 and 648 are both running 10 minutes late this morning. Bus 679 is for Brushfork, Bluefield Middle and Bluefield High. Bus 648 is for Athens, Pikeview Middle and Pikeview High.

The regional science fair scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, January 23rd at the Chuck Mathena Center will be on the regularly scheduled time. Set up at 9:00 am tomorrow and judging beginning at 10:00 am.

All Mercer County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay, Thursday, January 23, 2025.


Today, Mercer County Schools' Superintendent Ed Toman, Assistant Superintendents Dr. Ernie Adkins and Rosemary Mitchell, Director of Human Resources Dr. Kristal Filipek, and Treasurer Leslie Wellman met with West Virginia Delegates Joe Ellington, Marty Gearheart, Doug Smith, and Jordan Maynor to discuss the upcoming legislative session. The meeting provided an invaluable opportunity to share input with our legislators regarding specific needs of Mercer County Schools and to advocate for public education priorities that will benefit students and educators across West Virginia. @wveducation

🏫 The front entrance rock is being installed—it’s going to look amazing!
🧱 The pumphouse brickwork is officially complete.
🛠️ The last retaining wall is almost done.
👩🍳 The kitchen hood is installed and ready for future meals.
🚌 The bus circle entrance is stunning with the columns’ stonework now complete.
