Today, two unsuspecting students and a teacher were surprised by Mr. Toman. Students and teachers from all over the county applied to become our next JASON Argonauts - a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to a new place to learn STEM, design thinking, and entrepreneurship. JASON Learning reviews the applications and chooses both students and teacher. This year's lucky appointees are Princeton High School freshman, Olivia Linkous, Princeton High School sophomore, Bryce Burgess, and Bluefield Middle teacher, Christina Hulsey.
Principals Krissy Zickafoose and Kim Miller were on hand to make sure the secret remained a secret until the "prize patrol" showed up to let the recipients know they had been chosen. Also, the students' parents were sworn to secrecy until today. Olivia, Bryce, and Ms. Hulsey will travel to Houston, Texas in July to meet with leaders in STEM. The students will return to West Virginia with invaluable experience that very well could lead to their future education and careers. Ms. Hulsey will return with new ideas for her classroom.
A big thank you to last year's Argonauts, Savannah Mongeni and Joseph Flanigan, for being part of the celebration.
Please join us in congratulating Christina Hulsey, Olivia Linkous, and Bryce Burgess!
