“CELEBRATE! WEST VIRGINIA” celebrates the history, culture and people of West Virginia like no other arts program.  THIS IS PURE WEST VIRGINIA PRIDE!!!  With a foot-stomping beat!

MICK’s exciting performances on banjo, guitar, auto harp, dulcimer, fiddle and harmonica spark well-known favorites like: “The West Virginia Hills”, and “Country Roads”, “John Henry” and “Mountaineers Are Always Free”, along with Mick Souter compositions: “West Virginia Sunrise”, “Singin’ Mountain Pride” and the original title song:  “Celebrate West Virginia”.  As with all of Mick Souter’s shows, there is a lot of high-energy singing and musicianship that is spiced with plenty of audience participation.  This is quality family entertainment, good for all ages, performed by one of West Virginia’s most actively touring artists.  (See bio. page)

Over the past thirty years, Mick Souter has made over 3,000 appearances in schools, colleges, festivals, state parks and theaters in West Virginia and several other states with his various programs:  “A Visit with Stephen Foster”, “The Roads and Rails of Woody Guthrie”, “Ever Sings a River”, “All Aboard the Iron Horse” and “They Made America Work”.   Mick’s shows have received Consistently high praise for both content and quality. “CELEBRATE! WEST VIRGINIA” employs the same high standards in a show that’s sure to rouse the spirits of proud West Virginians everywhere.  In fact, THIS MIGHT BE MICK’S MOST EXCITING PROGRAM YET!

“CELEBRATE! WEST VIRGINIA” is a musical journey from early explorers and settlers, to our state’s Civil War beginnings, to railroad builders, coal miners and hard-working mountaineers with song after song celebrating mountains, rivers, and the spirit of the people of West Virginia.
