Mercer Elementary is proud to celebrate an incredible achievement by one of its six VEX IQ Robotics teams, who recently earned a state-level victory and secured their place at the VEX IQ World Championship later this month in St. Louis, Missouri.

This outstanding accomplishment highlights the dedication, teamwork, and innovation of our students, as well as the support and guidance of our staff and families. Competing at the state level requires months of preparation, problem-solving, and collaboration—and our students rose to the challenge in every way.

VEX IQ Robotics is an elementary and middle school robotics program that introduces students to engineering concepts through hands-on learning. Students work in teams to design, build, and program robots using a modular robotics system. Throughout the season, teams are challenged to complete specific tasks in a game-based format, requiring strategic thinking, coding skills, and real-time problem-solving. Just as important, students develop critical life skills such as communication, perseverance, and teamwork.

The upcoming VEX IQ World Championship, held annually in St. Louis, brings together top-performing teams from around the globe. This prestigious event features intense competition rounds, skills challenges, and opportunities for students to collaborate and connect with peers from different states and countries. It is widely recognized as one of the largest and most exciting student robotics competitions in the world.

To have a team advance from Mercer Elementary to this international stage is an extraordinary honor and a testament to the strength of our robotics program. With six teams competing this year, Mercer students continue to demonstrate that innovation and excellence are alive and well in our Pirate community.

We could not be more proud of our students for this remarkable achievement. Their hard work, determination, and passion for learning have truly set them apart.

Please join us in congratulating our state champion robotics team as they prepare to represent Mercer Elementary on the world stage in St. Louis. We wish them the very best of luck as they compete among the best in the world!
