Part-Time Evening Programs for Adult Students

Financial Aid Information

Our mission is to provide technical and academic skills to prepare all graduates
to be life-long learners and productive global citizens in a technological society.

The Mercer County Technical Education Center participates in a variety of funding options for adult students attending our adult evening programs.   We work with a variety of funding sources, such as VA, DRS, TAA, WIA, AmeriCorps, and others as they become available.

The primary source of financial aid at MCTEC for the adult evening programs is Workforce WIOA funding. This funding is available to residents of West Virginia and requires completion of the FAFSA to determine eligibility.

Those who are not residents of WV will need to sign a payment plan with the financial secretary before the start of class.

WHEN COMPLETING THE FAFSA, MAKE SURE TO ENTER OUR SCHOOL CODE (017054) SO WE WILL RECEIVE YOUR INFORMATION

There is a funding opportunity through the WV Workforce for West Virginia students called WIOA.  Even if you do not qualify for Federal Aid, it will determine eligibility based on your income without looking at other factors (such as parent income or spouse income). Eligibility for WIOA is based on completion of the FAFSA at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.

Once your FAFSA has been received by MCTEC, you will be sent the referral for WIOA funding if you are eligible. Please notify us if you are interested in WIOA funding and have been a resident of West Virginia for two years.
