📱Supporting Focused Learning in Mercer County Schools📱
Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, Mercer County Schools will implement updates to our cell phone policy pursuant to West Virginia House Bill 2003.
These changes are designed to create a safe, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students:
Elementary: Phones must remain off and stored in student's bookbag in their cubby or locker during the school day.
Middle: Phones may be used before/after school only and must be kept in lockers or teacher lockboxes.
High School: Phones may be used before/after school and at lunch, but must be stored in teacher lockboxes during instructional time.
We know these changes will require teamwork, and we truly appreciate the support of our parents and guardians in helping students stay focused on learning. Together, we can ensure classrooms remain places of growth, respect, and opportunity.
