Attention current middle school 7th and 8th grade students!
The Southern West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy is a great opportunity for rising eighth, ninth and tenth grade students to learn about the nursing profession.
The day camp will teach you everything from how to help patients to how to create and maintain safe and sterile nursing environments. Plus, the students will learn these important skills under the guidance of real nurses. Students will take classes on WVU Tech's campus in Beckley, learn real-life nursing skills, visit real hospitals, learn to take vital signs and earn their CPR certification along the way.
There is no cost to attend the program, although spots are limited.
Mentors:
Students in the program will be paired up with a professional registered nurse who will serve as their mentor. These mentors will work with their student to answer questions about their studies and help them explore the nursing profession. And if the student wishes, they can stay in contact with their mentor long after the academy has ended.
College 101:
Beyond their studies, nursing academy students will get to see what college life is like. They'll take classes in college-level labs, learn under college professors and see campus for themselves. It's a great way to find out what life is like for the college nursing student.

You must have at least a 3.0 current overall grade average.
