1. Call Meeting to Order: Amy Rickman, principal, called the meeting to order at 4:00.
2. Introduction of attendees:

3. Discuss the purpose and vision of the council: to utilize resource and stakeholders to meet the various needs of students to support academic and personal success.
4. Complete the required WVDE training.
5. School Success
· Identified the growth and data from the EOY iReady diagnostic.
· Reduction in chronic absenteeism.
· Student of the Month program
· Beaver Buddies program
· Increase of community and parent involvement opportunities
6. Current Needs
· Counselors/Therapist for severe behavioral needs
· Flexible seating and sensory materials for classroom
· Additional playground equipment
· Gross motor equipment for Pre-K
· Academic: increase focus in math using Mathematical Mindsets and WVDE Unit with Numeracy programs
· Adult mentorship
7. Next steps
· DARE program with Amanda Moore, Bluefield City Police Dept.
· 1st Responders visit students during school lunches to establish a positive connection with our community.
· Invite the local fire department to observe a fire & lockdown drill to determine if there are areas of concern or ways to improve.
· Reach out to local fire dept. to set up fire trucks for a fire safety program the 2nd week of October.
