Read Across America Week (March 3-7) was a success at Bluefield Primary! We spent the week focusing on how our world is immersed with literature and that reading is all around us. Students dressed up each day to reflect a reading theme and spent time reading with classmates and reading buddies. Our goal is to instill a lifelong love for reading in our students and to promote creativity and imagination. Simply reading 20 minutes a day increases vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing and helps to build endurance. Did you know that if you take 20 minutes out of your day to read with your children, 5 days a week, they will be exposed to 1.8 million words in one school year!
