May is “National Military Appreciation Month.” The Bluewell School faculty and staff honor, remember, recognize, and appreciate those who served in the military in the past, men and women who serve now, and their families.
Important National Military Appreciation Month dates are:
- May 1: Loyalty Day
- May 6: Military Spouse Appreciation Day
- May 8: Victory in Europe Day
- May 21: Armed Forces Day
- May 30: Memorial Day
In addition, the month of May is Gold Star Awareness Month. Therefore, we tribute the families of our fallen heroes.
Greg Whitlock, secretary of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs said, “The month of May provides an opportunity to appreciate those who serve and have served. These men and women continue to play a major role in the development of our country documented through a history of uncompromising honor, dedication to duty, and genuine love of country.”
United States Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen fight to defend our country. In addition, spouses, children, and parents stand behind them while sacrificing time spent with their loved ones. They bear the burden of long deployments and difficult moves.
Bluewell School appreciates military families for their unwavering devotion, and we are so proud of our nation’s heroes. God bless the U.S.A.!
