Happy National Teacher Appreciation Day! We would like to introduce you to our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Brenda Jenkins!
Brenda Jenkins oozes positivity throughout her lessons. Every time I watch Mrs. Jenkins teach, she is encouraging her students. She encourages them to keep trying, to make something of themselves, to rise up from their norm, and to tackle each day with a positive mindset.
Mrs. Jenkins conducts after-school tutoring, homeschool instruction, and other teaching/professional responsibilities after school. Not only does she participate in trainings, but she is also a trainer herself. She trains teachers and staff in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
Mrs. Jenkins is well-educated in various areas. First, Brenda has two masters, one in special education and another in business. Therefore, her broad knowledge beyond education is very helpful in the school setting. Mrs. Jenkins is also Autism certified, so she is well-prepared to assist students with various exceptionalities. All of this continues to benefit Mrs. Jenkins’ professionalism and Bluewell School’s enhanced service to our students, parents, and community…thanks to Mrs. Jenkins’ personal academic growth.
She also models her expertise with future teachers by accepting and mentoring student observers and student teachers. I know of a couple who still lean on her knowledge to this day. Mrs. Jenkins is a solid, reliable special education teacher who always gives the best advice to anyone who knocks on her door.
In the past, Mrs. Jenkins was also a foster parent. She and her husband welcomed children into their home and cared for them, unselfishly. I am very thankful children were able to experience her loving home during a difficult time in their lives.
Congratulations, Mrs. Jenkins! Your school family is so proud of you!
