Later during our Make a Difference Monday video, you will see Mrs. Thompson’s class and Mrs. Whitt’s class having a fun day! Today, the teachers threw a Classroom Carnival, but they had to earn their tickets with assignments in the morning! So, let’s find out why it’s important to incorporate fun activities into learning.
First, our brains respond positively to laughter and fun. When a lesson incorporates humor, it makes us more alert and we remember the information from a positive perspective. This makes a stronger connection to the learned knowledge.
Second, having fun while learning builds a sense of community. By having fun with their classmates, kids go beyond themselves and see the joy of building relationships with others.
Finally, fun activities lead to better classroom management and student behavior. Fun lesson components enhance learning by naturally engaging the students. If they are interested in the activity, then they will be so involved in the lesson that they will stay on task!
Truly, our third and second graders had a great carnival day. Be sure to watch today’s Make a Difference Monday to see the footage.
