We are officially in the middle of this week's remote learning days.  If things are a little bit chaotic at your house right now, here are some tips for transforming your home into a successful learning environment.

  • Create a learning space.  A space dedicated to class helps your child focus.  You can even allow your child to decorate it.
  • Get supplies. Have basic supplies ready, just like at school. You can have pencils, scissors, glue, crayons, and other supplies neatly stored in a school supply box.
  • Set up a routine. Kids love routines, and Bluewell School has a set, remote learning schedule.  Try your best to follow the schedule each day during the Reimagined Days.  You can even go the extra step and create a visual schedule with pictures.

  • Allow time for movement breaks. It is hard to sit through online classes for adults, and it’s even harder for kids.  Movement breaks (such as yoga stretches, or a short walk outside) help.
  • Follow your routine. Even if something comes up, try to stick to your routine as much as possible. Children can stay on task easier if they have a consistent and predictable routine.
  • Minimize distractions. This may be the hardest task of all, understandably so!  That’s why a learning space is so important.  You want to make sure the area is free of clutter, and there is no T.V. or other media nearby.  Also, head phones that plug into your child's device could help.

So, these are just a few tips that will make Reimagined Days go a little bit smoother.  Stay patient, consistent, and know that we are always here if you need help!
