Bluewell School kids had an amazing opportunity to learn some healthy tips from Bluefield University students! Today, they talked to us about staying healthy.
Bluefield University conducted a field experience virtual seminar with us today, and it was a great time! Each class and/or grade level had their own lesson link sent to them via Zoom, and this is what they learned.
First, Pre-K focused on feelings. In fact, Elmo showed them all about feelings and what each one looks like. Therefore, the kids related to the lesson and enjoyed it very much.
Our Kindergarteners learned all about diet and exercise. Of course, you must have a healthy diet for the proper energy for exercise. Plus, they got to practice some stretching techniques!
First grade focused on every kid's favorite activity...playing outside! Yes, there are definitely some health benefits to playing outside including physical exercise and releasing energy.
Then, second and third graders learned all about calming techniques. They even completed a calming toolbox to top it off!
Fourth grade learned about the benefits of exercise. Of course, exercise maintains your overall health. Also, Bluefield University encouraged us to aim for 60 minutes of exercise per day.
Finally, fifth grade discussed mental and social health. They talked about the importance of being a good friend and ways friends can help with difficult times.
All classes had the opportunity to ask questions and speak with the Bluefield University students. It was a great learning experience for both groups, and it sure helps to make a difference in the lives of our youth!
