Dolly

Timberwood Elementary School recently celebrated the life, legacy, and heart of Dolly Parton with a special schoolwide celebration known as Dolly Days!

Dolly Parton has spent decades using her platform to make a difference in the lives of children. While she is known around the world for her music and entertainment, one of her most meaningful legacies has been her commitment to children and literacy through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Founded in honor of her father, who was unable to read or write, the program has provided free, high-quality books to children from birth through age five.

At Timberwood, we believe strongly in the power of books to open doors, spark imagination, build confidence, and help children dream about what is possible. Dolly’s belief that every child deserved the opportunity to discover the magic of reading was a message that aligned perfectly with our school’s mission.

Throughout Dolly Days, our Timberwood Wolves participated in fun, Dolly-themed activities that celebrated reading, kindness, creativity, generosity, and perseverance. Students and staff embraced the spirit of the celebration through special activities, themed days, literacy experiences, and plenty of Dolly-inspired fun!

The celebration also provided an opportunity for students to learn about Dolly Parton as a role model and to recognize that success is not simply about what we accomplish for ourselves—it is also about the difference we make in the lives of others.

Dolly’s Imagination Library was built on the simple idea that books can plant the seeds of dreams. That message was especially meaningful at Timberwood, where our students are developing their interests, discovering their talents, and beginning to imagine the people they can become.

During Dolly Days, we encouraged our students to remember that they could make a difference, too. They could be leaders, helpers, dreamers, and kind friends. They could use their talents and abilities to make their school and community a better place.

Most importantly, Dolly Days reminded our students of a few important lessons:

Dream big. Read often. Be kind. Help others. And never underestimate the difference one person can make.

We were proud to celebrate Dolly Parton and her incredible commitment to children and literacy, while creating some wonderful memories for our Timberwood Wolves!

Dolly Days was a celebration of reading, kindness, and the belief that every child has a dream worth nurturing.
