SOCIAL STUDIES FAIR DRAWS HUNDREDS TO MERCER MALL


PRINCETON, WV, February 28, 2011: Mercer County students from seventeen elementary and middle schools competed Monday in the annual County Social Studies Fair at Mercer Mall. Students ranging in age from 9 – 16 set up displays and presented their “speeches” to a pair of judges. Parents crowded the center court for the 12:30 award ceremony.

 

Topics, drawn from anthropology, economics, geography, and history, included polar bear extinction, organ donation, the Bluestone Dam, the Gulf Oil Spill, and the history of Legos. Winners in each category are listed below.
