Mercer County Board of Education
Goal One: During the 2016-2017 school year, require and demonstrate high expectations in academic performance and classroom behavior as demonstrated by a three percent reduction in the number of suspensions and an increase in academic achievement, work ethic and graduation rates.
Goal Two: During the 2016 -2017 school year, provide resources and support for teachers to implement formative assessments during and at the conclusion of an instructional lesson, unit, and module as measured by a ten (10) percent increase in the use of county, state, and teacher-made formative assessments.
Goal Three: During the 2016-2017 school year, implement research based professional practices that emphasize reading comprehension and ensure the teaching of argumentative, informative, and narrative writing across the curriculum in order to increase Summative ELA scores by three (3) percentage points and to show evidence of one hundred (100) percent of teachers, at the secondary level, writing, completing, and implementing LDC modules.
Goal Four: During the 2016-2017 school year, implement standards based math practices, including MDC formative assessment lessons, in order to increase Summative Math scores by three (3) percentage points.
Goal Five: In order for students to become lifetime learners, support teacher initiatives during the 2016-2017 school year to deliver lessons emphasizing critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving core competencies as evidenced through administrative review and observation.
Goal Six: During the 2016-2017 school year, provide appropriate staff development sessions related to the achievement of county goals for one hundred (100) percent of county and school administrators.
