**VIRTUAL SCHOOL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS**

Parents:
 
We understand that this semester has been full of challenges. Thank you for your patience with us while we have worked to provide options for your children during this time. Please allow us the opportunity to clarify some information about virtual school.
 
ANY STUDENT RETURNING TO IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION
Students may transition back to in-person instruction for the second nine-week period by notifying the school by October 26, 2020. The second nine-weeks begins on November 3, 2020. Upon a student’s return to in-person instruction, a school team will review when the student’s courses were assigned, progress in the course, and grades assigned by the West Virginia Virtual Teacher. The school team will determine the grade that is transcribed on the student’s record. Students will only receive credit for work completed.
 
ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL ELECTIVES
Elementary and middle school electives will be available throughout the first and second semester. All core and elective courses must be completed by May 28, 2021.
 
HIGH SCHOOL ELECTIVES
Originally, it was communicated that Part 1 of Fall electives should be finished by November 2, 2020. We understand that there are many parts to complete in each course. Therefore, Part 1 will remain open as long as the student needs to complete. Please be reminded, that Part 2 cannot be accessed until Part 1 is completed. If needed, Part 2 of the Fall electives will remain open past January 20, 2021. At the start of second semester, two additional electives will be loaded for each student. Part 1 and Part 2 of each elective will need to be completed by May 28, 2021. Spring electives will not remain open for the student past this date, as facilitators and school staff will not be available to assist. Students will only receive credit for work completed. Please be reminded that work that is not completed will result in failing grades, and this may result in you failing the course.
 
ENROLLING IN VIRTUAL SCHOOL
Enrollment for new virtual students will begin in early December. New virtual students will begin virtual coursework on January 21, 2021. If your student is already enrolled in the virtual platform, there is no need to re-enroll or complete a new application.
