Why New Teachers Academy?

Participants will receive a certificate upon completion that enables them to apply for transition and/or permanent certification in the future.  Other requirements may be necessary to qualify for transition and permanent certification.

Participants will also be connected with a mentor in their school level.  Mentors can be contacted by phone or email.

Participants will be introduced to county procedures and will be given information on who to call or ask whenever they have questions about their school or any information they may need.

Must complete all training to receive $500 stipend (WVCPD training and Mentoring Sessions) for Teachers employed 0-3 years in Mercer County. May only participate in program one time.

**Teachers needing NTA certificate and are past the 3-year employment period in Mercer County Schools - may apply for continuing education hours but may not receive the stipend.

Note: All first year teachers to Mercer County Schools (including out of county transfers) must have an assigned mentor.
