Advanced Career Education (ACE) Program for Adult Students

The Certified Welder Advanced Career Education (ACE) program focuses on building a knowledge base and technical skills in all aspects of the Welding industry. Welding techniques, safety, properties of metals, and weld quality will be studied. Students will have the opportunity to earn a West Virginia Welding Certification for each skill set mastered and be exposed to skills to develop positive work ethics.

Instruction and career training consists of 400 hours completed in 10 months, pending Mercer County Board approval. The adult part-time Certified Welder program is nationally accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE).

Instruction and training will include classroom lectures and discussion, laboratory demonstrations and practice, as well as preparation for certification tests.  Students will obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform welding techniques and utilize welding equipment.

WV Welding Certifications that may be earned include SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW.

  • 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

    • Thursday may be used for makeup days when school is cancelled

  • 10 months in length (450 clock hours)
