Mercer County is located in southern West Virginia nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The county school system has a population of approximately 9000 students and employs over 1300 people.

Mercer County Public Schools offer a broad curriculum encompassing Basic Skills, Advanced Placement, Career Connections, High Schools That Work, Technical Education, Distance Learning, Internet and Computer Technology in all schools, Special Needs Programs, IASA Title I, Dual Credit Courses, JROTC, Adult Literacy Programs, Alternative Education Programs, Community Education, as well as adult evening classes at our Mercer County Technical Education Center.
